Sometimes you just can’t keep the horizon level and have to fix it later. I usually use Photoworks or Snapseed for distortion corrections, but it’s always good to learn about ways to do so in other editors, thanks!

I’m notoriously “off” with horizon lines in camera. I’m left sided so i have a tendency to “pull” when shooting handheld. Oddly I’m not much better on a tripod, even using a mirrorless camera, the built in level, etc. I just shoot a little “looser” to compensate.

You have to be a little careful. Sometimes your “line” (horizontal or vertical) isn’t true naturally, and you can go too far. Things can look unnatural.

EXCELLENT article! Drives me crazy to see crooked horizons. You can also try clicking on the ‘AUTO button in the crop tool to straighten a horizon as well. Works most of the time….

thanks for the tips on correcting distortion. i recently took a picture of a lighthouse against a horizon and was so frustrated that i couldnt get it at a nice neat right angle. i didnt even know lightroom could do this!
