This article is about taking good pictures on a vacation. It isn’t a pro guide to food photography for profit. His points apply for anything from a cell phone on up.

Hi Darryl, yes absolutely, you’ll get some great food shots in that part of the world! And if you can capture the locals preparing the food as well that’s even better. Enjoy your trip.

Don’t you think that you should have led with that? This is the key to great close up photography and nice bokeh as well

I have not seriously considered doing food photography….. until I read your article…….and that got me salivating! I am planning a Trip to Northern Thailand and parts of India between May & July ~ so I guess I had better dust off my 16 – 35mm and get practicing. Thanks again.

Hi Michael, I love this dish. I’ve had it many times and in fact had some just this week! And what an amazing presentation! Very well done to your wife. I think this particular dish could actually work better with a couple of additions. For example some of it on a plate with some broken crusty bread. The reason I say that is because I know when you look deeper into this dish you notice all of the different ingredients. And don’t forget you can also photograph it whilst being prepared as well. Thanks for sharing.
