this is a round up of best portrait CAMERAS not lenses…. so the glass or the eye plays absolutely no role…. nobody doubts that pentax can make beautiful portraits…. but every camera listed has some feature that makes it interesting to portrait photography…. pentax are amazing cameras… but they have no features that set them apart for portrait photography…. every camera can caputre light and color…. that’s not something particularly amazing these days…

Yes I agree Jim. I am always suspect if these write ups being a less than complete review and therefore not the most reliable sources of information.

Either ignorance, lack of experience, or Big camera company bias results in Pentax not getting mentioned.

I use a Pentax K1 FF and a Pentax 645 MF for portrait photography and they produce excellent images. The Pentax K3iii APSC is equally up to the game. For the parameters they compared in their selection of 12, the Pentax can equal most. Good photographers are aware that its when you know your product you know how to get the picture. It doesnt need to be the latest technology. Rather its the best eye, the best glass and understanding light that will return magic portraits.

Unfortunately these articles are not up to standard in terms of breadth and quality of their analysis.
